Round Square International Conference 2019 November 7Pathways World School, Gurgaon
Welcomed to Emerald Heights with warm smiles and a huge carnival themed dinner, The Round Square International Conference 2019 kicked off with an enthusiastic and vibrant evening. The five delegates from Pathways, Tushar Agarwal, Rubina Khurana, Tanvi Jain, Sania Joneja and I, Kyra Kumar were alight with anticipation for the coming week.
During the opening ceremony, we were introduced to delegates from an astonishing number of schools across the world, each of whom would soon become our close friends and join us in creating unforgettable memories.
Our first two keynote speakers were Shri Kailash Satyarathi and Dr. Shashi Tharoor who enlightened us on their various perspectives of the theme “Sarvodaya: The World We Wish To See.” This lead to the discussion of various global issues, such as inequality and climate change, in our respective barazza groups.
The next day we were introduced to Sophia The Robot and Madame Gandhi. This was the day that the two most controversial topics were discussed, being the future of AI and modern day feminism. Each Barazza group thoroughly discussed these and provided a variety of perspectives from across the world to gain a wholistic understanding before reaching a collective conclusion which was further incorporated into our conference statement.
On the fourth day we visited a school for the underprivileged orphan children and were heart warmed to spend time drawing or playing games with them. Furthermore, the conference involved trips to Mandu and Maheshwar, the most beautiful historic sites in Indore that gave us a true feel of the Indian culture and history.
The last day kicked of with high spirits as we participated in a run that contributed to dealing with cancer. This was accompanied by another one of our keynote speakers, Major DP Singh.
Our last keynote speaker was Swami Gaur Gopal Das who left us inspired by his powerful words on the true meaning of success.
The closing ceremony was followed by an energetic Bollywood themed dinner where we held our hearts in our hands as we bid farewell to our fellow delegates and close friends.
Not only had this conference provided an international perspective on global issues, but also inculcated lifelong values and learnings along with created unforgettable memories.
