A Round Square-inspired Symposium was hosted by ‘The Millennium School Dubai on the 5th and 6th of April. The theme of the Round Square was ‘A Sustainable Today for a Resilient Tomorrow’. The conference was centered around the solutions to create a sustainable future and how the youth of today needs to take charge for their safe and secure future.

The first day of the conference commenced with a keynote address by Ms. Neha Sinha, a biodiversity expert and a wildlife author, in which she apprised the students of the increase in climate change and sustainability.

Following the address, the students were put into their breakout rooms for the baraza sessions, where varied groups got together to share absorbing discussions. The core of the discussions was to maximize the effort to work towards sustainability.

The students shared their thoughts on how sustainability is important, how trash to treasure is vital for the planet, and how it preserves natural resources and other objects that are rare. With this, the first day was concluded and the delegates started preparing for day 2 which consisted of various workshops that students could choose from.

In the workshops, students were given the options of upcycling gift wrapping, arts and crafts to odds and ends, trash to treasure, and home composting. The workshops were conducted so the delegates could learn new ways of how to reuse the stuff they already have lying around.

Last but not the least, following the workshop each Barraza group presented their solutions and learned from the discussions conducted on day 1. Then the session ended with closing remarks, and everyone shared their thoughts about Round Square and how they enjoyed along with the new things learned.
