Independence Day- 2019 Pathways World School, Gurgaon
August 16
The morning of 15th August 2019 was filled with pride and gratitude towards our brave freedom fighters who brought Independence to India in 1947. Pathways World School, Gurgaon celebrated the 73rd Independence Day in the Amphitheatre with energizing performances by the very talented Pathwaysians.
The Independence Day celebrations began with the hoisting of the Indian flag followed by the singing of the Indian National Anthem. Since India shares its Independence Day with South Korea, their National Anthem was also played. A series of music and dance performances followed, that were truly mesmerizing and enhanced the sense of patriotism amongst everyone present.
The Support Staff presented patriotic poems, songs, and dances which earned them thunderous applause from the audience. School Director, Ms. Sonya Ghandy Mehta inspired the audience with her speech and recited the famous poem ‘Where the Mind is Without Fear’ by Rabindranath Tagore to instil amongst the audience the relevance of freedom in today’s world.
This Independence Day, we not only enjoyed the performances put up by our Peers, Teachers and Support Staff but also learned the importance of celebrating the diverse culture in this wonderful country. The same spirit of Independence continued in the week ahead, where Students and Teachers reflected on their understanding of Independence and wrote ‘Thank You’ messages for people who help them enjoy that Independence.
Their messages decorated the Middle School in tri-colour signifying their strength and growth, along with commemorating their true Independence.
