"Trees are the Earth's endless effort to speak to the listening heaven." -Rabindranath Tagore
On Thursday, 23rd of August 2018, the Students of Grades 6 to 9 of Middle School assembled together acquaint themselves with the efforts of a non-profit organization, 'Nanhi Chhaan'. Established in 2008, Nanhi Chhaan is an organisation that supports the cause of girl child, as well as an advocate the preservation of the environment.
They arrange an effective amalgamation of those two bones of contention, with their initiatives pinning the sanitation of the girl child and the seeding of more greenery as its focal point, for example, they have built more than 300 toilets in the regions of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, as well as handed more than nine lakh saplings since its inception. Pathways and Nanhi Chhaan entered into an association in the month of July 2017.
Since the festival of Raksha Bandhan was around the corner, it was a good opportunity for the brothers to endow their sisters with saplings, in lieu of any other consumerist goods. By the same token, during the Assembly as well, a myriad of siblings who study, work as faculty or students at PWS were bestowed saplings to plant as a symbol of their relationship.
On the other hand, encouraging the spirit of association with Nanhi Chhaan, Nanki Singh, a student of Grade 12, who served as an intern at the organization over the summer, shared her experience with the students, narrating about the efforts of the organisation in constructing toilets for young girls and aged women. Her experiences motivated the students as well as the 'My Tree, My Story' initiative that the school has already presented to them. The Founder chairman of the foundation, Mr. Harpal Singh, spoke of his endeavours and ambitions.
