• MYP School Annual Production: ‘The Black Mirror: #in Pursuit of Reality’ Pathways World School, Gurgaon

On Friday, 5th of April, the students of Middle School, Pathways World School, orchestrated their Annual Theatrical Production, with the partaking of many budding minds from Grades 6 to 8 as well as selected students of Grade 9.

The Middle School Principal, Ms. Monika Bajaj enunciated the theme of the play - "The Black Mirror: #in Pursuit of Reality" which explored the distorted realties that have begun to tower over all, with the rise of mediums such as social media and television, as the play looks through the eyes of a reality show, giving the audience a chance to perceive the various emotions invoked in due course.

She further maintained that in-house production explored the dubious world of reality shows through the Navrasas of traditional Indian performing arts - Shringara (love/beauty), Hasya (laughter), Karuna (compassion), Raudra (anger), Veera (heroism/courage), Bhayanaka (terror/fear), Vibhatsya (disgust), Adbutha (surprise/wonder), and Shantha (peace/tranquillity), as the emotions commonly felt by the audience of reality shows.

The School took this opportunity on this day of the Annual Production to donate Rs. 4 lakhs to Wishes & Blessings an organization that works with students, through internship programs, to help the underprivileged children of Delhi NCR, and "MaatiMeet Grameen," and NGO which advocates the employment of women who have not been permitted to work outside of their villages. The money donated was raised through the School's IGCA (International Global Citizen's Award) program.

The Middle School Production was also honored to host Mr. Vinay Pande, an Educationist by experience and Mr. Mrityunjay Devvrat, a dynamic filmmaker from Delhi and the Co-Founder of Pencil Cell Productions & the Founder of Maktub Entertainment, as the Guests of Honor of the occasion.

The Event began with customary lighting of the lamp accompanied by an invocation by the Hindustani choir, signifying the eternal flame of enthusiasm, knowledge and talent. As the show progressed, the audience witnessed zesty dances, heart-wrenching theatrics, and the mellow voices of our talented students that resonated collectively. Through the same, the audience could grasp the profound message that the performers were putting forth, of counterfeit veracities that reality shows endorse, and that one should embrace their individuality rather than don a spurious guise.

The School Director, Dr. Sarvesh Naidu culminated the show by commending the participation of students and teachers throughout. As the show reached its end, before the curtain-call, the 'Words', the Annual Publication which is a collaboration amongst the student body of Middle School, as all the students, from Grades 6 to 9, pen down a poem on a specific theme 'My Hero' was unveiled.

The event was also an opportune moment for students to exhibit their flair in the field of the arts, giving limelight to the rising stars of dance, drama and music.
