MYP 1 Symposium on IDEALS Pathways World School, Gurgaon
October 25
A virtual Symposium conference for the students of MYP 1 was held on the 21st of October, 2021, on the theme of IDEALS. It was organized by DP 1 and 2 students, and the group leaders were chosen from MYP 4 and 5. The event was much anticipated and students dressed up in their different group colors to depict unity.
The students engaged themselves in keynote discussions, group sessions, and other interactive sub-sessions which were a part of the conference. The conference revolved around the concept of ‘An Attitude of Gratitude’ and there was also a thorough discussion on the 6 Round Square IDEALS - Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, and Service.
The students of MYP 1 were given exposure to what a Round Square conference really looks like and learned a lot from their seniors.
As the students divided themselves into their groups, they participated in engaging ice-breaker activities, planned by their group leaders, which helped them feel more comfortable in this setting. The students took inspiration from the wise words of the guest speaker Mr. Abhimanyu Das Gupta, a former faculty member of PWS, who is currently the PYP coordinator at the Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad, and has been an educator since 1999.
He enlightened the students with his meaningful insights and his unique approach to life. The students then had riveting discussions upon the IDEALS of their group and came up with various points of discussion. In the closing ceremony, the students presented their learning in the form of raps, songs, videos, and other creative methods.
The conference was a learning experience for all students, including the MYP 4 and 5 students, most of whom were first-time Barraza leaders. The students were able to hone their communication and social skills and train themselves for future conferences.
