On Wednesday, 2nd October, GEMS Millennium School Sharjah in the UAE hosted a 60-minute Round Square Zoom Postcard with the theme “From Storms to Serenity: Blue Sky after Rain.” The session aimed to foster global connections and collaboration, with a focus on resilience and personal growth. The event opened with an introduction to Round Square’s mission, followed by a discussion on how Helen Keller exemplified overcoming adversity. I Ruhaani Bhatia from DP 2 nd Sanaa Suneja from DP 1 got the opportunity to be a part of the session.
Participants engaged in a Padlet activity, sharing historical or public figures who inspire them for their ability to overcome challenges. A TED Talk by Steven Claunch on overcoming obstacles set the tone for group reflections. We were then divided into Barazza groups, each with a unique theme. My group focused on setbacks, where we played a “Would You Rather” game to discuss different approaches to challenges, watched a video about overcoming negative mindsets, and participated in a trivia session centered on resilience.
Afterward, we reconvened in the main session for summaries from all the Barazza groups. The event wrapped up with reflections on resilience and perseverance, followed by a vote of thanks from the Barazza hosts. Overall, the session was an inspiring exchange of ideas and insights, reminding us that better days always follow life's storms.
