“Sketch it and learn it.” This week an astounding virtual workshop on Sketchnoting was held on Thursday, 19^th August 2021, to demonstrate the value of visuals in learning and for teaching the skill to students.

Sketchnote Specialist Ms. Carrie Baughcum was the host and students from MYP 1 to MYP 5 participated in this session. Sketchnoting is a great way to take visual notes and help the human brain retain as much information as it can. A presentation was shared by Ms. Baughcum in relation to sketchnoting and her experience of the same with her students in Chicago. The Middle School students were enthusiastic about sketchnoting with their pens, color pencils, sheets, etc.

During this session, students had a lot of fun drawing their own sketchnotes by listening to a song and reading a quote. Depending on what came into their mind first after reading the quote or listening to the song “Can’t Stop This Feeling”, students put their thoughts on paper through visuals, icons, and many more. Overall, children were thoroughly engaged and enjoyed the interactive session with Ms. Baughcum, illustrating visuals according to their imaginations.
