Thinking Through Films February 26Pathways World School, Gurgaon
The 'Thinking Through Films - Social, Cultural and Political Cross Border Awareness Project', an initiative of the Seagull Foundation for the Arts is designed for the Students of PYP 4 and PYP 5. A group of 30, PYP4 and 5 Students from Pathways Worlds School registered for the project. The project commenced in December and ran through mid-February.
Ms.Gurmehar Kaur the author of Small Acts of Freedom, a deeply personal family history published by Penguin Random House India in 2018 was invited as the guest speaker for the culmination of the project on 18th February,2021. She is a social activist, an ambassador for Digital Peace and was listed by TIME magazine as a 'Next Generation Leader' in the year 2017.
Ms. Kaur held an interactive session with the students where they shared their vision about their dreams and aspirations. She was delighted to hear them as they confidently communicated how their future would look like and who would they want to be . She spoke about the importance of cross-cultural awareness to build resilient societies and discussed the importance of cultural diversity to respect each other’s culture while being themselves.
Ms. Kaur posed pertinent questions about racism and students really surprised her with their perspectives. Our young Pathwaysians proved yet again that “Better knowledge and recognition of our respective differences leads ultimately to better mutual understanding, with regard to those objectives we hold in common”.
