Swimming Competition - Senior School Inter-House September 15Pathways World School, Gurgaon
Friday, the 14th of September, witnessed Pathways’ annual Inter-House Swimming Competition, all four Houses battling it off for sporting immortality.
With an impressive lineup of the top swimmers from each House, the audience was in for treat - and they sure weren’t disappointed. The first event, freestyle, observed some of the finest: Earth house and Water house emerging victorious, with the top time of 33 seconds shared by Pushpit Ghosh (Earth), Prabal Jain (Earth), and Mayank Patnaik (Water). Arya Goel (Water) secured top position in the girls’ race with an impressive 39 seconds.
This initial test of speed and stamina was followed by a contest of technique: the 50m breast stroke event. With fewer competitors, the pool was open to a surprise emergent swimmer: Water House’s Mayank Patnaik covering the pool’s length in 44 seconds, and fellow House member Arya Goel championing the race at 53 seconds.
The cerise sur le dessus of the event arrived in the form of the men’s 25m butterfly. Butterfly, considered the most challenging of all the four strokes, requires raw strength in physique and technical finesse in order to effortlessly slice through the water. The most notable and flamboyant performance was executed by Dennis Singh of Air House, copping 15 seconds - a timing that could make most aspiring swimmers envious!
