On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on the 2nd of October 2021, the students of Middle School took part in various activities to celebrate the joyous event on 4th October. All the activities emphasized the principles that Gandhiji propagated in his life: peace, tranquility, non-violence, cleanliness and purity of mind.

Students of MYP 1 explored the concept of Gandhiji's Three Monkeys which embody the principles of 'See no evil, Hear no evil and Speak no evil'. They engaged themselves in a task called ‘Finding My Monkey’ where students discussed the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s three monkeys in today's world and shared examples of instances when one can apply the principle of the Three Wise Monkeys.

To extend their understanding, the students also created their own version of a fourth monkey based on modern principles, one which is relevant in today's day and age.

Students of MYP 2 and 5 stepped outdoors for a ‘Plantation Drive’ where each MYP 2 student was paired with an MYP 5 student, and as they planted saplings, they also reflected and placed their thoughts on the principles of patience, virtue and strength on a placard/a paper tag on the tree.

Students of MYP 3 and MYP 4 enhanced their creativity by involving themselves in ‘Echoes- Peace Doodle’, an activity where students were provided with A4 sheets with the word 'Peace' written in an artistic font. They used their creative outpours to work around the word for a symbolic presentation.

Apart from all the activities, the students across MYP participated in an optional Poster Making Competition ‘Truce’ on the theme: Peace and Tranquillity in today’s context where they could express themselves in any medium; Digital or through Visual Arts.

All the students highly enjoyed these activities which helped them reflect on the importance of Gandhi Jayanti and the principles that Gandhiji stood for which hold the same value even today.
