About The Role
The Senior School Principal is the academic and administrative leader of Grades 9–12 and a key member of the Senior Management Team. The role is responsible for delivering excellence across the IB continuum: MYP, DP, and CP, while aligning with the school’s vision of being among the leading international schools globally. This is a residential, on-campus leadership role, requiring high visibility, accessibility, and engagement with students, staff, and the boarding community. The Principal provides strategic, academic, pastoral, and operational leadership, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, strong student outcomes, and a holistic educational experience. A central expectation is to build a “One School” culture, ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment across Grades K–12, and working closely with Primary and Middle School leadership to deliver a seamless and coherent student journey.
Brief Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & School Development • Provide visionary and strategic leadership aligned with the school’s mission and long-term growth plans. • Actively contribute to the Senior Management Team (SMT) in shaping school-wide strategy and innovation. • Propose and implement enhancements in academic and co-curricular offerings, keeping the school competitive globally. • Keep abreast of emerging trends in K–12 education, IB practices, and global pedagogy, including the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into teaching, learning, and administration. • Lead expansion initiatives, infrastructure planning, and new programme development. • Promote a culture of discipline, accountability, innovation, and excellence. • Establish consistent and effective systems, policies, and procedures for smooth functioning. 2. Academic Leadership & Curriculum Excellence • Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of IB MYP, DP, and CP programmes. • Ensure high-quality teaching, assessment, and curriculum design, aligned with IB philosophy and global best practices. • Drive curriculum innovation through: o Inquiry-based and concept-driven learning o Project-Based Learning (PBL) o Multiple Intelligences framework o Technology-enabled “Anytime, Anywhere Learning” o Student Agency o Innovation and Entrepreneurship • Oversee regular review of teaching and learning practices, ensuring continuous improvement. • Ensure effective support programmes and remedial initiatives for diverse learning needs. • Oversee boarding prep programmes in the evenings to support academic rigor. • Teach a minimum of six periods per week, modelling instructional excellence. 3. Secondary School Alignment (Grades 6–12) • Work closely with Middle School leadership to ensure alignment across Grades 6–12 • Ensure common systems, processes, and practices across the Secondary School. • Coordinate closely on Cross-over teachers, Timetable planning and optimization • Ensure smooth student transition from Middle School (Grade 8) to Senior School (Grade 9). 4. Boarding Integration & Residential Life • Maintain close coordination with the Boarding team to ensure alignment between academic and residential programmes. • Support structured evening academic prep, student routines, and wellbeing systems. • Ensure boarding contributes positively to student discipline, independence, and character development. • Be an active and visible presence in the residential community. 5. Student Development, Discipline & Wellbeing • Ensure excellence in academic outcomes, co-curricular participation, and holistic development. • Lead Career Guidance and College Advisory, including top tier university placements, student internships and exposure opportunities • Facilitate student exchange programmes with leading schools within India and internationally, enriching global exposure and intercultural learning. • Appoint and mentor the Student Council, fostering leadership, responsibility, and student voice. • Promote a culture of self-discipline, accountability, and mutual respect across the student body. • Conceptualise and execute high-quality school events such as Founders’ Day productions, Graduation Ceremonies, and other flagship programmes that reflect the school’s ethos and standards. • Oversee strong pastoral systems supporting student wellbeing and mental health. • Take leadership in student discipline and behavioural standards. • Handle conflicts, misconduct, and sensitive cases with discretion, fairness, and firmness. • Lead crisis management, including safeguarding concerns and reputational risks. • Ensure preventive, restorative, and corrective systems are in place. 6. Staff Leadership & Professional Development • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing and motivated faculty. • Establish and strengthen a robust Pedagogical Leadership Team and Middle Leadership structure, including MYP and DP Coordinators, Heads of Departments (HODs) and various other academic and programme coordinators • Ensure staff retention through engagement, growth opportunities, and positive culture. • Conduct Regular classroom observations, Mentoring and coaching of teachers, Fair, constructive, and growth-oriented appraisals • Identify professional development needs and organize targeted training programmes. • Conduct and facilitate regular workshops for staff, students and parents, including critical areas such as POCSO, POSH, safeguarding and wellbeing. • Nominate teachers (on a rotational basis) for IB and external workshops. • Facilitate teacher exchange programmes with leading schools in India and internationally to promote professional growth and global exposure. • Establish and maintain a robust staff induction system. 7. Operations, Administration & Financial Stewardship • Oversee effective administration of all Senior School functions. • Plan and manage budgets, ensuring financial discipline and optimal resource utilization. • Ensure hygiene, safety, and compliance across the campus. • Support infrastructure planning and operational efficiency. 8. Admissions, Outreach & Parent Engagement • Collaborate to achieve student enrolment and retention targets. • Actively participate in roadshows and outreach events making presentations • Establish robust induction systems for Students and Parents • Build strong parent engagement and communication systems. • Ensure high levels of parent satisfaction and trust. 9. Governance, Compliance & Accreditation • Ensure compliance with IB and all relevant national and international bodies. • Lead efforts for obtaining and maintaining affiliations and accreditations (IB, CIS, NEASC, etc.). • Ensure all policies, systems, and practices meet regulatory and accreditation standards. The Senior School Principal shall undertake any other duties that go naturally, customarily, and conventionally with the role of a Senior School Principal, along with any additional responsibilities assigned by the School Director or governing body to ensure the effective and smooth functioning of the school.
Requirements
Candidate Profile • Minimum 20 years of experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles in IB schools. • Strong experience in MYP and DP (Experience in CP is desirable and may be helpful). • Demonstrated success in academic leadership, team building, and school operations. • Strong understanding of global education trends and innovation.
